Heatmap

Template heatmaps

Add up the same element across every page built from one template, and see where it works and where it doesn't.

What you see

Historian knows which pages share a template: all product pages, all category pages. Switch the heatmap from page level to template level and every element is coloured by its numbers across all pages of that template. There is a site level as well.

Page by page, for one element

At template level, an element has a Template tab: the element's numbers on every page of the template, sorted by the metric you choose. For each page: clicks, converted clicks, conversion rate, revenue, revenue per click, sessions and page views, with a total at the bottom. Click a page to open it.

Why it matters

A single product page rarely has enough traffic to say much about its "Add to basket" button. Thousands of product pages together do. Template level gives you the numbers for a decision that applies to the whole template, and the page-by-page view shows the pages that do much better or much worse than the rest.

An example

On the product template, the size guide link has a high conversion rate overall. Sorted by clicks, the Template tab puts the shoe pages at the top, and their conversion rate after a click is the highest too. On the jacket pages, the same link is hardly clicked: a place to test a more visible size guide, with the shoe pages as the benchmark.

Stop guessing why revenue dropped.
