Heatmap

Experiment heatmaps

A heatmap for every variant of your GrowthBook experiments, and two variants side by side.

What you see

Your GrowthBook experiments in Historian, running and finished. Each one shows what is being tested, with the variants as Historian captured them, GrowthBook's own results, and the most clicked elements per variant.

Each variant has a heatmap of its own: the clicks from every page where visitors saw that variant. Open two of them side by side to see how the variants are used differently.

How it works

Historian reads your experiments from GrowthBook with a read-only key. Your GrowthBook setup tells Historian which variant each visitor saw, and Historian captures the tested page once for every variant. We set up the experiments with you.

Why it matters

An experiment tells you which variant won. It does not tell you why. The heatmaps show what visitors did differently: which element the winning variant got them to click, and which one the losing variant lost them on. That is what the next experiment is built from.

An example

A test of a shorter product description wins by a small margin. The variant heatmaps show why: with the shorter text, the size selector moved above the fold and got far more clicks. The next test is about the size selector, not the text.

Stop guessing why revenue dropped.
