Category Performance Strategist
Finds the category anomalies that wouldn't show up in a standard dashboard
- agent ›One anomaly this week: 'Rain trousers'. Revenue +64% over four weeks, with no front page tile, no campaign and no newsletter mention. It's selling on search alone.
- you ›Isn't that just the rain? It's October.
- agent ›Rain jackets, same season, same weather, are up 9%. And last October rain trousers were flat. The growth is in children's sizes: 3 of the top 5 products.
- you ›Then should we swap the wool campaign on the front page for rain trousers?
- agent ›Not swap — the wool campaign converts at 3.1% and earns its place. Give children's rain gear a tile in the second row and a link from the kids' category page, where it is currently on page 3 of the grid.
What it does
A standard dashboard tells you your biggest categories are big. This agent looks across every category tag for the ones that behave unexpectedly: a subcategory gaining traction with no merchandising behind it, or a promoted category that gets the front page and still doesn't convert. Expected seasonal leaders and categories that are already highly visible are filtered out, so what is left are the surprises. For each one it checks Historian's AI page descriptions to see whether the site reflects the trend — whether the rising category has any visibility, whether the promoted one is presented well — and the opportunity calendar to rule out a coming event. The insight names the category, how far it is from its usual level, why it is not just the season, and where on the site to act.
An example insight.

Outerwear category performing 34% above sitewide average
The 'Outerwear' category is converting 34% above the sitewide average this week, beyond its usual seasonal lift, while it has no tile on the front page and sits fifth in the main menu. Consider increasing its visibility on the homepage.
